The Tri-City Association of Educational Office Professionals (TCAEOP) celebrated their 48th Annual Bosses’ Night Banquet, a “Black and White Affair,” at 6:00 P.M., May 28th, at the Tabernacle Community Life Center. Bosses’ Night is an annual event where educational office professionals honor their supervisors for their support of the Association, and to express grateful appreciation for the professional, unselfish and dedicated service they provide in the workplace.
Greetings were extended by Dr. Letizia Gambrell-Boone, Vice-President for Student Affairs at Virginia State University, Dr. Anthony Walker, Director of Student Services for the Petersburg City Public Schools, and Mrs. Karen Franklin, CEOE, President of the Virginia Association of Educational Office Professionals (VAEOP).
The Tri-City AEOP awards two scholarships each year to deserving high school and/or college students. This year’s recipients were Miss Autrelle Jones, a graduate of Prince George High School and Mr. Kevin Davenport, Jr. a graduate of L. C. Byrd High School and the Governor’s Academy for Engineering Studies. Both students received a $500.00 scholarship to help them with their college expenses. Miss Jones plans to attend Old Dominion University and Mr. Davenport plans to attend Virginia Tech.
To climax the evening, the Association presented the Educational Administrator of the Year Award and the recipient was Dr. Jewel Hairston, Dean of the School of Agriculture at Virginia State University.
Also presented was the 2015 Educational Office Professional Award of the Year Award and the recipient wasMrs. Cassandra Reese, a retired educational office professional for the Petersburg City Public Schools.
